The Ballyreen area of Fanore is a paradise for divers, with visibility of 25 meters. The clear unpolluted waters along the coast are a haven for shore angling. A world championship Rock Angling Festival is held in Fanore in June each year.

The green roads, which cut along the side of the hills, follow tracks that have been in continual use since very early times while others were built as relief projects during the dark days of the Famine.
