Sandy beaches and rocky hills
Fanore sits on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean about 10kms west of Ballyvaughan and 5km south of Black Head, the most northerly point of County Clare. It is famous for its golden sandy beach and weathered limestone plateaus sloping down to the Atlantic coastline. Fanore also boasts a famous fulacha fiadh (cooking or sauna site) dating back to the Bronze Age. Fanore is widely recognised as one of the finest amenity areas in the Burren.
